Equipment:
Three (3) sections of 1-½ or 1-¾ inch hose, pumper, nozzle and a 55-gallon drum. All equipment furnished. The nozzle will be a smooth bore straight tip. Olympic Committee will determine the tip size. Contact Charlie Shaw for tip size.
Procedure:
1. Hose will be rolled by teams and placed on tailboard of pumper with nozzle. 55-
gallon drum will be placed in center of a circle, 80 ft. in diameter.
2. At signal, firefighters run to pumper and connect nozzle and hose to pumper and
open discharge valve. Truck is already in pump.
3. Crew proceeds to any point outside the 80 ft. circle and flows water into the
barrel.
4. If the barrel falls over, the nozzleman must shut down, enter the circle to reset
the drum, then return to his/her original position before starting water flow
again.
5. Engine pressure is set and maintained by team member.
Penalties: 2 inches of water will be deducted for each violation.
1. No equipment or team members can enter the circle. Once a violation is noted
the nozzleman must shut down until the equipment or team member is removed
from the circle.
2. No team member may enter the circle to approach the barrel after the event is
complete except the team captain or his/her designee. Any violation will result in
disqualification from the event.
