Welcome to the State Fire Rescue Training Area 14 Web Site.

Our goal is to provide you an electronic avenue to assist you in your training needs. A great deal of time and thought has gone into the production of this site. The emergency service personnel of this region and the Commonwealth were first and foremost in the layout and content. The information of this site will change on a very regular basis as information, technology, and training opportunities will present themselves.

The firefighters and emergency service personnel of this Commonwealth have an enormous responsibility in the day- to- day protection of life, property, and the environment. Challenges and conditions confront each of us regularly in efforts to preserve the very things we protect. Our initial drive is a continuum of safety?our safety.

Our job is to provide you the quality training you deserve in order to successfully defend those encounters you face in your communities.. Our professional staff from our office to the classroom and to the drill grounds looks forward for the opportunity to serve you.

State Fire Rescue Training is historically about teamwork. This web site is developed and maintained by the office staff and field staff of Area-14, made possible by the teamwork of these committed individuals.

Thanks for visiting us and as always, if there is anything we can do for you in your training needs, contact us.

Instructors from Area-14 and Area-4 taught an 8-hr. Flashover Recognition and Survival class along with a short segment of thermal imaging (TI) training at the 2008 Dixie Fire School.

Despite the bad weather, this class was very well attended and enjoyed by all. Student comments: "A must for any firefighter", "A damn good class", "This class should be required for any new firefighter".

A very special thanks to: Mike Amend, Vehicle Systems, Inc., Bluegrass Uniforms, and Vogelpohl Fire Equipment for supplying the thermal imagers.

Area-14 presented two programs at this year’s officer’s school, Becoming A Better Company Officer and Special Operations for the Fire Service. These two programs were among the many great classes that were offered this year in Owensboro.

Over 1,100 students from 4 states attended, with 97 of the 120 counties of Kentucky being represented for the 08’ school.

Thank you to Area-3 and the Green River Firefighter’s Association, for once again putting on one of the best and most attended schools in the Commonwealth.

A total of 27 students representing Bardstown, Bowling Green, Custer, Elizabethtown, Layfette (IN), and North Oldham Departments took part in this years class.

Two-days of swiftwater instruction was provided by Area-14 and Area-6, which gave the students the necessary knowledge and skills to handle most swiftwater incidents. In-water skills ranged from shore-based rescue to in-water and boat based rescues. A good and eductional time had by all!

Comments about the class; "I learned a lot of important information from this class. This was the first time being in the water. I would recommend this class to anyone", "The instructors were very informative and approachable, Overall, it was a very good class and a lot was learned", "Very good class! very intense and knowledgable".

A special thanks goes out to the Army Corps of Engineers for providing the water for our class. Without them we would not be able to conduct this program.
